A replica of a Howard Gardiner Cushing mural wraps around a staircase at the Long Island studio of the sculptor Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney; the original was sold to Cushing descendants. All of these were removed long ago. Designed by Gilded Age architecture firm Delano & Aldrich, the light-filled structure was originally completed in 1912 on the manicured grounds of the Whitney familys thousand-acre Old Westbury estate.
